Day one of rating my hotel breakfasts. This is the first of two hotels I'm staying at in Colombia. The less nice one. I was surprised by how hearty the breakfast was. They had chicharrones, patacon, bollo, all kinds of fried meats. Too much. I grabbed myself a portion of the calentao (this messy but delicious mix of rice, eggs, beans, ground beef and chorizo) and some slices of platano dulce (sweet fried plantain). I put some hot sauce in the calentao and it was fantastic.
As for drinks, they had a wide selection of juices. I couldn't resist the pull of nostalgia and served myself a glass of agua panela, which I hadn't had since I was a kid. After tasting it again, I remembered why. I don't really like it. I'm gonna go for the passion fruit juice tomorrow. Skipped the coffee. Even in Colombia, not really a coffee guy.
Overall this breakfast was excellent. I was tempted by the chicharrones and various fried pastries but I can't stand a lot of fried stuff in the morning. The agua panela was bad, but that's on me. 8/10, a good start, and I expect very different from my hotel breakfasts in the states in a few days.
Will you be eating at Chilis, Applebees, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster while stateside, and sharing your thoughts in the appropriate thread dedicated to those specific restaurants?

But have heard good things about the pills, lots of high quality pills. USA a-OK! Here I come. Get the hospital bed on standby!

nothing exciting to report...2 days in a row with over priced eggs benedict and a fruit bowl with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice which may or may not have included vodka..this was all room service as well

I had a banana at my hotel breakfast in St Louis. The lady working it looked at me strangely, like she just realized it wasn’t a plastic table decoration

I skipped breakfast yesterday so today was day two of rating my hotel breakfast. I moved to a different hotel, a nicer one, but the breakfast selection was considerably more limited! They had some nice pastries, including traditional buñuelos which I hadn't had in a few years so I grabbed a couple of them.
The hot food section was okay. They had potato fritters, some teeny tiny beef empanadas, a weird saucy chicken and vegetables thing, and the traditional watery hotel eggs. I grabbed a couple teeny tiny little beef empanadas, they were really tasty. An American man complained next to me that there was no bacon.
There was also some sort of soup that I stayed away from.
And of course, there was calentao, which is apparently very popular in Colombian hotels (which makes sense since it's just "a bunch of stuff in a pot"). I didn't try it this time.
Some fruit and other options for those who prefer a lighter breakfast
Fruit salad, yogurt, and jello. I might try one of these tomorrow.
I had a corozo juice, which was fucking dope and made me feel nostalgic.
Overall this hotel breakfast was good. A smaller offering than the other hotel, but it was all very tasty. I will give this hotel breakfast a 7.5/10
