A co worker just gave me a bunch of venison, so it got me thinking about all of the wild game meats that I enjoy. (Sorry vegetarians). When we go to Alaska to visit family I always get my fill of reindeer, moose and sometimes bear. Of those 3 I really enjoy the reindeer in sausage form. I also used to have elk pretty regularly when I lived out west. Please share your favorites. |

I am not really a fan of venison but do enjoy the breakfast sausages that my boyfriend's step-father made from the deer he got (what's the right word? hunted? killed? caught? whatever- you get what I mean) he used some kind of great spice mixture in it and they were very tasty. |

the only one ive been ok with was deer jerky, but then it was mostly the spices that i was tasting and not the venison itself. i have tried venison steaks before and they were too gamey( probably not prepared correctly) and it was a turn off so i havent tried it since |

I've never been a huge fan to be honest..for me its never been the gaminess but the toughness of a lot of it..I remember having bear and it wasnt too bad but that was when I was about 8 you know what really creeps me out is eating small birds: quail or pheasant..I like the taste but the small bones really weird me out |

I haven't had pheasant enough to decide if I like it. Also, quail eggs. |

Wild boar is one of my all time favorite things to eat. Probably my #1 strictly "meat" option. |

(Thought I posted this last week, but search is coming up short. I must be losing my marbles...) Wife's co-worker is a bow hunter, and he bagged an elk a couple weeks ago. He brought us this humongous box of elk -- sausage, burger, sirloin, and more. There's three layers of this stuff in there! |
