The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
my wife and i went to Le Bernardin..couldnt tell you to this day what we had..obviously seafood but no idea..the service was too over the top for me..refilling water after every 3 sips..asking if everything was ok if you got up to go the restroom..
That sucks. I had a great experience at Le Bernardin. It was damn near perfect service. Not quite the elite level ninja service we got at Eleven Madison Park, but still great.

There are competing views on this within the industry. Is it worse to leave a messy plate on the table, or to make those unfinished diners feel like there’s a rush?
The problem move is to clear the plate and just acknowledge there’s no rush.
My mom would say that's the exact wrong thing to do. In her warped mind, saying there's no rush implies that there is a rush. She sees it as super passive aggressive and unprofessional.
I hate dinning out with my mom.
I also don't really like dining out with my parents. Commenting on and judging the service seems to be an essential part of the experience for them

Here's my answer to the tipping question. I leave 20% basically no matter what, either rounded up to the next whole dollar if I'm leaving cash or with the right amount of change to get my bill to a .00 whole number if it's going on the card. If I'm just super super bummed about the experience at the restaurant I might leave a dollar less than 20%. And here's the part I'm not proud about: good looking female servers who were nice to me get a bigger tip. I'm not proud of it but it's true

Right?! I've never felt closer to you, Argo.
Do you have anyone close to you that works (or has worked) in restaurants?

My brother just turned 30 and recently started his first job outside of the restaurant industry in about nine or ten years. He started as a dishwasher at Applebee's, then was a busboy and later a bartender. For a long time, he was a server at a local restaurant and had been the manager of one of the locations the last three years. He was very ready to move to another industry. My sister also worked as a server for a good part of her twenties. I never did

So petty, dude. Be best.
That’s literally what the tip is supposed to reflect tho.

Poor service should not be rewarded, at least not generously. So refreshing to see spike coming in as a voice of reason.
