Had everything from poor food with poor service, to excellent everything, and most in between.
The worst ever was a meal in Prague in 1997. A childhood friend of mine and I, were part of a school trip there. One day we spent some time together just the two of us, we went to a small cafe/bar on a side street. We both ordered Spaghetti Bolognese. The food turned out to be completely grey, and tasted worse than puke. The service was somewhat poor, but not rude. We paid and left without eating more than a couple of spoons each.
Several of the rudest were in Milano a few years later. My girlfriend knew Italian perfectly, but we only spoke English publically. The things said about us in Italian were often rude, even if we were just a young couple, both dressing and behaving decent. Food was from poor to excellent, but always better than that awful meal in Prague.

What kind of stuff was said?
Things like stupid foreigners. One lady turned to the table next to us and said, these idiots can’t make up their mind. We had only been there five minutes. When she left, the people at the other table did apologise to us, on her behalf. Probably after they understood that we had understood the comment. But they did seem like nice people.
This is about poor experiences, but the opposite happened to me in Paris. For years I had heard about how it was the rudest city, especially when it came to service. However, I found everyone I ordered from to be super friendly with excellent service.

The wife and I went to dinner, just the two of us, for the first time since becoming parents. It was great, except for half the meal, the loudest restaurant patron I’ve ever encountered was a couple tables over.
He was loud af, didn’t stop talking to his mate, and was going on about philosophy and being on the dance floor amongst other topics. Just full cringe… he didn’t seem drunk or anything either. Maybe overcompensating for nerves on a first date? Or just a mega douche.
Anyway, they finally wrapped up and we could hold a conversation with each other.
