Yeah dawg! The 170F is key. Don’t let that water hit boiling or you’ll ruin your fancy matcha.

Just pour the water once it sounds like it’s about to boil, but not actually boiling yet

Typically once my kettle starts making some noise, I’ll give it a couple of vigorous swishes/swirls to incorporate the hotter water on the bottom with the cooler water on top. The sound will stop. Once it starts making noise again, I’m good to go. Have check the efficacy of this with an infrared thermometer and it’s right at 170F.

good ideas.

just read that 160-170F happens sometime during the "rumble" before the water boils. i'll do some trial and error with the electric thermometer to figure out the timing.

Not interested in a trag/spike alliance.

Give me a verb/spike alliance. That would really be something.

Make a slurry with just a touch of water, much easier to dissolve all the powder that way. Once your slurry is well incorporated, then pour the rest of your water and continue to stir

Due to a power outage this morning, I had a matcha latte from Starbucks. Pretty good, but also super rich. Assumed they used whole milk; a less fatty milk might be better.

You can always ask for different milk, even nut and oak milks.

i read somewhere that dairy milk actually prohibits the full benefits of matcha, so i always go with coconut milk or something like that
