A good torta is arguably more important than a good taco on a menu. It's gotta be on sturdy but fluffy bread. I've never tried one "drowned" with red sauce but I bet with the right bread that would be a near perfect sandwich.

How far would you need to drive to get a good one?
Also, if you were to use this thread to document a quest to make a good torta from scratch, I wouldn't be mad. Something like that sounds more manageable where you live than, say, tonkotsu ramen.

I just had one with ham and smothered it in the green sauce that came with it. Impetus for this thread, kind of. It wasn't the best idea because the bread was too soft and it ended up being pretty soggy.
