I've had the Impossible Burger a few times (and I like it). I really liked the Beyond sausage at Tim Horton's, but the Beyond sausage at Dunkin was bleh. None of them ever felt especially meaty to me. I've been off meat long enough that I don't crave it, so products that strive to closely emulate meat don't especially appeal to me, regardless. I'm happy with more traditional protein substitutes like tofu, seitan, tempeh, etc (including when they are shaped and spiced like traditional meat foods). Overall, I think the new meat substitutes are impressive products and I'm glad people are going for them.

I've tried most of the ones I have come across, always hoping for magic, and almost always disappointed. I don't like the beyond meats or impossible burgers. I did get something from the farmer's market that was mostly beets and chia and seasoned that up and it was pretty good, but it's local and I don't remember the name.
Most of the fake meats are either soy or wheat. The wheat ones all have a weird taste to me, and I hit the wall with it after a couple of bites. There are more companies using pea protein these days, and I think some of those are ok.
I have been eating the meat alternatives since I was a kid and stick to what I'm used to, for the most part. That's Morningstar Farms and Gardein, but only certain things from each of them.
I prefer veggie burgers when you can tell what's in them by looks and taste so you know it's "real food".

I had a home-cooked Impossible Burger today. Maybe it's stupid of me to be this surprised, but holy cow that was good. Better than the fast food takes on the plant-based meats I've tried. It was really good. I had Beyond before, too. It was good but smelled like dog food raw, kind of ruined the whole thing. The Impossible didn't smell bad raw, didn't have any smell at all really. The guys who run a vegan burrito place around here that I really like just opened a new spot where the whole menu is different Impossible Burgers. I'm excited now to try their takes on it
I really like the ground plant based protein Hello Fresh uses. Have enjoyed it in every dish so far - Mexican, Italian, etc. Gotta figure out who makes it.
