I went pretty much straight yogurt, white rice, or apples for the week and seem to have made significant strides towards curing my digestive flare up. Made an egg and cheese McMuffin for breakfast this morning and that went okay, but going to stick to the bland basics for as long as I can handle it to be sure.

You're intense. Wishing you some happy eating this week.
Thanks, pal. I had no choice; the meds were helping, but the issues were still affecting quality of life.
I did enjoy several pieces of nigiri/maki, miso soup, and a fried! wagyu wonton last night with no repercussions, and a bit of banana pudding later on as well, so definitely on the mend.

Had some blueberry pancakes with maple syrup this morning and thought “Reid can’t eat this.”
How was it?
Oh heavenly
My wife made some banana/spinach muffins today using almond flours and other ingredients I can have. They were cooling in the tin when I left for work. Can't stop thinking about them.

Without prying too much, what's going on in your body that these things help your digestive flare-ups? This is literally a laundry list of things I can't eat or drink for 13 more days, and they would each wreck me, digestively. I guess every body is different.

Not sure really. Best guess is bad bacteria balance in my gut? Came out nowhere.
I’m on prescription meds for it, but also decided to go with a real bland diet to give my system a break. Seems to have helped.

We are nearing the end of this and it's been a good one. After 2020, giving up the alcohol was more important and more beneficial to my wellbeing than the diet itself. I took a lot of lessons about food from this a year ago, and then cooking at home all year made it easier to carry those principles into this round of Whole30.
I don't recall running as much as I am now when doing this last year, though. That was a big adjustment this time around, since most of what fuels a good run is stuff I can't have. Grains, pasta, energy gels... Once I learned to just keep eating fruits and nuts all day long, I stopped hitting that 4pm wall of fatigue after a morning run.
It's truly amazing how much better you feel, almost overnight, when you stop drinking beer and don't go for the $2.50 Bundle at McDonald's on your way home from a night shift at 3am.

I've decided not to do the full Whole30 this coming January. At this point, I know what certain foods do to my body and I believe I can get the same detoxifying health benefits by just cutting out alcohol, gluten, dairy and sweeteners for 30 days and focusing heavily on plant-based eating. This thread content will just have to adapt, doug.
