We did this brunch on New Year's Day. My wife and I made a game of taking turns going through the line coursing out plates for each other. We stayed for nearly two hours and the baby barely woke up. Highlight for me was the "dessert" I made of NOLA bread pudding french toast topped with Amish fried chicken.
Awesome meal. Great way to start off the year. Perfect send-off for my impending Whole30 plan.
Croque Madame Casserole, Smoked Ham, Gruyere, Roast Tomato, Mornay Sauce
A little dry because I missed the mornay sauce boat somehow. I had that on the same plate as the charred broccoli & swiss casserole and liked the second item better.

Went to The Smith last night. I never love going there because it's so expensive but we were going to The Met and so it just made sense. Anyway, I had mussels. And I'll tell you, they might have been the best mussels I've had. Just wonderful. The broth they were in was so fucking good, too. Wife and I were drinking it.
That place looks legit. I love the labeling/info section of their menu. Some more exotic offerings too, like kinmedai (aka "splendid alfonsino," aka "golden eye snapper"), angawa (??), hata (??). I'll have to go there next time I'm in LA.

well, this was legit..we had the far right box on the menu. Nozawa along with a few a la carte pieces..fantastic and so inexpensive for the quality..this will be a weekly place

the special of the day was monkfish liver..basically quickly boiled then "mashed" into a pate type of ball covered in miso...i could have eaten 200 of them
