I learned some new info on NPR today re: chicken:

- "Raised without hormones" is an empty claim for chicken producers, because growth hormones have never been allowed in chicken.

-The "Organic" label, when applied to chicken, doesn't kick in until the second day of the hatched bird's life, so anything that happened while in incubation or during it's first day hatched is up for grabs.

- The "Raised without antibiotics" is the most stringent label you'll find on chicken. Taken together with "pasture raised" or "free range" (NOT "cage free," which I already knew was a joke), you know you're getting a high quality bird.

Actually, my post was a word-for-word quote of a "friend" on Facebook about how excited she was to find cheap eggs at Aldi.

I buy mine from a local farmer.

the combination of your placketlust and appreciation for a slim sleeve leads me to conclude you're a brown egg enthusiast

Usually around $4.69 in Bozeman, maybe $5.25 if I run out and have to buy them in Big Sky.

Well done, sir. Most of my local eggs are brown. However, on occasion I get some that are blue. I think the variety that lays them are called Ameraucanas.

 Yep, that'd be Bkue Amercauna. Blue shell with a vibrant orange yolk. They are pretty, but don't think they're otherwise any different.

We do a lot of smoothie bowls with almond butter and chia/hemp seeds. We're getting pretty good protein as it is. I will probably do an egg on a salad for dinner tonight though.

you'll never achieve anything approaching an impressive lat flare with that kind of protein intake
