just to clarify, you guys do you know how foie gras is made, right?

Yep.

but then can you see the disconnect in your argument? There's a world of difference between, say, rotational grazing of cattle on their natural grass diet, and force-feeding a goose with a pipe stuffed down its throat a food that is not natural to its diet, and in volumes beyond its comfort level

What happens to those cows after they eat all that grass?

There isn't a disconnect at all. You want to feel good about yourself by drawing invisible lines, which is fine. That's what most people do.

Not really a disconnect based on what the two of us have said. If it really bugs you, you should listen to the Anthony Bourdain Nerdist (lol). He addresses this at length.

Yay with a bullet. I don’t really give a fuck about “ethical” treatment of food animals, TBH. We are killing and eating them. Everything else is just bullshit to make ourselves feel better.

Yep. 100%. This ties into what I was saying in the other thread. There is no ethical or non-violent way to kill a living thing. So fuck it. In for a penny, in for a pound. I goddamn love foie gras and I'll eat it all day every day.

Guys, I've been to a foie gras farm, I don't need to listen to a podcast. At least Verm has the integrity to say "I don't give a fuck." I may disagree with the outlook, but at least it's honest.

Joe's statement that "there is no ethical or non-violent way to kill a living thing" is disingenuous, and I'll argue that it's not me who is creating invisible lines to make myself feel better, but rather Joe who is creating false equivalencies to make himself feel better.

Here's your standard-issue foie gras facility:

And here's your standard pasture-raised cows:

Obviously the latter video doesn't show the stressful walk through the chute system and quick death by stun-gun-to-the-head, but surely you can see that the cows' overall quality of life is vastly superior to the average foie gras-destined goose?

Probably around the time you decided to tell me to "fuck off" and that I didn't understand nuance or when you decided to bully me online for no good goddamn reason. Or when you decide to dismiss everything I have to say for some unknown reason. I don't recall the exact moment. Forgive me.

You've decided I'm not worthy of your time and consideration. You're intentionally making fun of me. You're intentionally disregarding the things I have to say. It's clear in this very thread. LV can say something and you're supportive and not condescending at all. I say the same thing and I'm disingenuous. You've been bullying me and picking fights with me for ever since you returned. You've blamed me for you leaving the board when that was just you throwing a tantrum and making a choice. And it's manifesting again here. If you don't care what I have to say or what my feeling and opinions are on a subject, DON'T FUCKING REPLY TO ME.

I gotta say, Joey, it really seems like you were the first one to make a condescending comment here, not trag.

This place has lost it's fucking mind. I'm completely dumbfounded. It's like living in an episode of Black Mirror.

I can't even enjoy this post, because I'm genuinely surprised to see that Joe is apparently still holding on to some animosity around past conflicts we've had…

Joe, if you'd like to talk about foie gras and such, I would still love to carry on the discussion. if you'd prefer to discuss our larger narrative together, and times I may have made you feel small, I'm happy to discuss that in whatever venue you are most comfortable with.

I will follow your lead

no way is this a victory, because we don't get to have a good discussion about ethics and food, and I have apparently hurt your feelings on multiple occasions. Call me an asshole if you like, but know that this post is genuine

Laughing at someone and then saying "You have no fucking clue what you're talking about" isn't a good way to have a good discussion about a topic. Just for future reference.
