Everyone likes BBQ right? Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken...rubs, marinades, injections. Everyone has their own techniques and if you go deep enough into the culture things get a little crazy. People get obsessive down to the tiniest of details. It's all good fun though.
I've been grilling since 1999 and worked as a chef for 6 years cooking up to 30 racks of ribs a day, 6 briskets in a day 8 pork butts and so on... at this point BBQ doesn't excite me like it used to but I still enjoy spending a Sunday grilling out.
Anybody have any favorite products, recipes, sauces or even restaurants? Step into the shack, take in the smell, trade ideas, just don't touch my smoker!

I love seafood! Grilled fish is awesome, my neighbor is a charterboat captain and does deep sea fishing in the gulf. I've got a couple of redfin tuna fillets in the freezer right now. Also got some Mahi Fillets sitting in there. Put a little olive oil on the Mahi with your favorite rub... so good!

I've been a busy griller this morning. Got up at 5 to cook a brisket for a fundraiser today (boys and girls club). They are holding a BBQ cookout and selling the plates to raise money for improvements. I wanted to be there cooking on site today but I had prior engagements. Namely helping a buddy frame up a wrap around porch
Anyways as always the brisket came out good. If you guys want to share cooking techniques or have any questions on how to cook any cut of meat feel free to share or ask away!

so hungry now.
I help a good friend's family BBQ a hog every christmas. I have no secrets to share as they make the sauce otherwise its just staying up all night and putting wood coals to it making sure it does not burn but stays at the right temp.
I love it and i love bbq.
There are so many good BBQ resturants in Atlanta its hard to know where to start. I think i'm going to Bub Ba Q's for lunch now http://bub-ba-q.com/

that brisket looks delicious, good job...I'll be cooking one this weekend on the big green egg
Hello fellow Egghead! Thanks for the kind words! You too Intoodeep! Nothing beats compliments to ones cooking. By all means share your creations as well.
I went to Eggfest in 2008. Took this picture in their Atlanta warehouse. These were all assembled for the weekend, to be used then sold as is by the company.

My wife's family is from Atlanta and I must admit I'm not a fan of the place. However, I do look forward to trying a few new BBQ restaurants every time we go.

Yo Vegman! I wonder if people there have learned the right way to do them with the advent of the cooking channel and everyone having the internet these days. Back when I was a kid/teen that's how everyone up there did 'em. It is probably no coincidence that we almost never ate ribs at the time
Also; your name reminds me of Wegmans. I wish we had some badass grocery stores here. Fucking Winn Dixie.

When I lived in Buffalo, we'd boil our ribs
Why the fuck would anyone do this?
No fucking clue. I think it goes back to people being afraid to eat pork back in the day. Lockjaw and all that stuff. It's a northeastern thing or was... they sure get chicken wings and pizza right though!

What do folks here think of South Carolina style BBQ sauce?
i'm not a sauce guy when it comes to bbq, but mustard and vinegar based carolina is a must with pulled pork sandwiches
Yeah, it's great with pork and chicken, especially if you smoke it. From what I've done, the mustard sauce goes great with applewood smoked pork or chicken.
I don't like mine too sweet, so I heat it up with jalepenos and cayenne pepper. I like it with a nice tangy, sweet and smokey heat.
