Beer cellar
How much of a selection you got down there?
I have a couple hundred bottles maybe.
How and why?
Like wine, many stouts and porters and some ales are well served by aging.
just promise me you never have a purple rain-style meltdown in your basement like Prince did when he smashed all those jars of preserves
it would be a shame to see those stouts and porters end up in puddles on the floor
but if you need to let your passions run free, then by all means, JUST DO IT MAN

You are quite the beer man, j. I'd love to get your thoughts on beers. How'd you get into beers? Do you drink anything else? What do you make of SpaceDust being my fav?

I started getting heavily into craft beer about 10 years ago. I started collecting about 6-7 years ago. I used to be a problem drinker. I was going through an awful marriage that eventually would end in divorce, and I was drinking hard liquor like it was water. Eventually I decided I had too much to live for to drink myself to death, so I gave up booze for 18 months. After taking the long sober break, I realized my drinking problem had more to do with depression and my life circumstances at the time than actual alcoholism. But just to be safe I have mostly stayed away from hard alcohol for the last many years. I’ll have the occasional cocktail, but I never buy the stuff for home. I’ve never had issues when drinking beer, so I stick with that.
Craft beer is amazing. The variety of styles, flavors, aromas, textures, is incredible. I started with IPAs, then Stouts and Porters, the current craze is sours and NE IPAs. I have found things that I love about all of the varieties. And thankfully I live in a city with dozens of amazing breweries that are continuously pushing boundaries, expanding flavors, and generally making world class beers. It’s amazing what is out there when you take the time to learn and try new things.
Space Dust is solid, but I wouldn’t call it great or extraordinary. My every day beer is Summit Saga IPA, and I’d describe it the same way. Solid if unremarkable.
