I'm about a week into a head cold, and when I'm sick, I eat. Today is scrambled eggs (made with sour cream) and sriracha; linguica sausage; whole wheat toast; greek yogurt; coffee; OJ; Nyquil daytime medicine.

Heh. I do pretty good on weight loss thru the week but totally ruin it on weekends. I think I have a problem.
That sugary granola bar is probably worse for your weight than the fatty breakfast you had today.
Fewer fat calories. Sausage is terrible. And the granola helps me at least feel fuller than just eating the banana.
You don't gain fat from fat calories (though they contribute to heart disease, cancer, etc). The gaining of fat comes from carbohydrates, particularly those found in the refined sugars that are most likely in your granola bar (I'm assuming it's a Nature Valley, Keebler, etc, rather than something primo from your local coffee shop or whatever). The fatty breakfast you had could contribute to weight gain in an indirect way, because you may feel tired and less inclined to get exercise. But you can pretty much disregard the fat content in your food as having anything to do with your weight.

I've done the no-carb thing before. I'm not disputing what you're saying at all, but I've had better success with watching fat calories. I've lost 25 lbs so far.
