I think the whole "vegan diet is unaffordable" claim is bogus. It's not all about superfood berries and ten dollar almond butters or whatever the fuck. The cheapest foods are all vegan and healthy: rice, lentils, beans, bananas, potatoes, etc. Frozen veggies are nutritionally as good as fresh and are cheap as all hell. Meat used to be the most expensive thing I would buy.
And I'm saying that the number of people who couldn't survive without meat is smaller than you might think it is. IMO, that number is approaching zero. If people eat a varied plant-based diet, they can get everything but B12---but I have a whole post-worth of ideas about B12 so I'll save that for later.

Alright Argo, I support your decision. Just don't beat yourself up over an occasional slipup. And don't preach to people at social gatherings-- that is the one thing that makes vegans so widely disliked.

Yeah, that's tough. People think about food very personally. And vegans think about food a lot. And they think about food through a moral lens a lot of the time. So even just talking about your opinions makes people feel judged.

Has anyone talked about amino acids, complete proteins, and complimentary proteins yet?
I covered that when I said that eating a variety of different plant based foods will meet all your protein and micronutrients needs. Plus, they come attached to appetite-regulating fiber and not to unhealthy amounts of saturated fats.

What? There actually was a hyperbolic takedown of Kraft Mac n Cheese as being laden with toxins on the Times site. I didn't read it, but I heard that it existed. Seems silly, but if it gets people to think twice about their food then it's overall OK.

is your vegan status the first thing listed on your tinder profile?
No, I'm not actually vegan. I've been eating vegan for eight days and I intend to keep it up. But I'm sure that I'm not going to be perfect, so I'm not really vegan. People are religious about it, so it doesn't seem fair to give myself that label. I just don't eat meat or dairy or even eggs, really. And I'm intending to replace my leather shoes with non-leather as they wear out. I'm going to do my best while trying not to think of anything as a sin. The thread title is kind of clickbait, I guess. Also, I'm not on the tinder right now.
