Ever drunk a beer that is just a mismatched bunch of ingredients that were forced into a bottle or can with some water and it's been lurking there ever since and now you've opened it and it's not like a celebratory Yes! We've escaped explosion of happiness but rather a flood of refugees crying that it was locked up in there so long and it's expressing its trauma and sadness in your mouth upon being released?
That's the beer I'm drinking right now. If beer you could call it.

I went to a restaurant with an awesome beer list. Snagged the last Stack Brewery Black Rock (my favourite black IPA) and ate some fantastic food. Followed that with Nickelbrook Headstock IPA and a dark chocolate truffle. Yum!

I'm 2 deep into a 6 pack of Ballast Point Big Eye IPA.
I haven't been drinking IPA's for several months, maybe over a year now, but this was on clearance at my local grocery store, and I've heard good things, so I picked it up.
It's OK, I guess. Reinforces my decision to cool it with IPA's though.
This is not the miracle beer that some people make it out to me. It's an IPA.

Unpopular beer opinion. I thought Hop Slam was overrated. Especially at $20 a six pack. I'd rather just have a Two Hearted Ale at half the price.
This is correct. I enjoy hopslam. It's good to very good. But there are a lot of IPAs that are on the same plain. Have you ever had anything from Toppling Goliath?

I remember truck chasing for KBS about 6 years ago. It's still a good beer to be sure. But now there are so many barrel-aged stout offerings (like Central Waters) that I don't get as excited for KBS anymore. If the beer buyer at my Binny's hadn't put some aside for me, I wouldn't even have scored any this year. Plus, I still have about 30 bottles of KBS dating back to about 2012. But it's still a really good beer.
How is this year's? I heard it's really coffee forward.

I don't chase it either. I'm friends with the managers at my local store and they set aside every limited release they get for me. It's great, I don't need to chase limited releases anymore. I got a four pack of the KBS. It's really a marvelous beer, even compared to the other BA Imperial Stouts, I won't actively chase more of it, but if I see it on a shelf, I'm definitely buying. I plan on drinking two of these and aging two. I still have two bottles from each of the last four years. My best friend is getting married later this year, we plan on drinking a flight of all the years together to celebrate.

My farther in law is in town from Dallas and brought some Bells Am I Right or Amarillo. Just finished one and it's tasty. It's only 6% alcohol and a slightly easier drink than Two Hearted. It's really good. They should distribute it everywhere.
