I’m talking about its cultural stranglehold at the moment. If I actually see the movie, that will be a different discussion. The problem with that is it would require me sitting through 135 minutes of a Ryan Coogler-directed Marvel movie, so...

Marvel movies in general are big. It is the movie that has been most heavily advertised the last month. I’ve got some friends that are Marvel nerds, but even people at work had heard about it. Probably won’t end up in the top ten earning movies of the year, but not far behind either.
This was highly entertaining. Rarely funny, but nearly always fun. Action packed, somewhat original, and while a simple story, it did at least make sense. Some good acting as well. Two thumbs up.

Holy shit this is killing it at the box office. Some estimates will have it hit $230 million by the end of tomorrow. If it does, that means it will have beaten Justice League. Not the opening weekend of Justice League -- the entire domestic run of that misbegotten botch.

I don't know who was tapped to take over the MCU after Iron Man/Captain America vacate the lead character spot, but I guess this answers that question. Especially if the movie has legs.
in the comics tony was put into coma. in his place riri williams took over the ironman duties as ironheart. graduated MIT early, has advanced robotics intelligence and is learning the hero game as she goes.
since marvel likes to combine characters when introducing knew ones i think she will be riri and that riri is her nickname. since she can design the panther suits and is lauded as starks equal it could make sense once RDJ decided to call it a night

Mrs. B: We've got stuff going on all weekend. B: There's a 10am showing on Sunday. Mrs. B: Should we pre-buy tickets? B: Pffft. For 10am? No one's going to 10am.
...
The B's will be seeing this movie next weekend.
