Let's keep Reid's thread from the old RM going.

I bought this one yesterday after walking by a neighbourhood bookstore that had it on display at the window. I went in and looked around for more copies, but they didn't have any more, so I asked the guy working there if it was ok if I took the one copy they had on display and he gave me a look as if saying "What the fuck are you talking about?" After that, I decided to stop being polite and start talking in English.

Anyway, I almost never buy new books on impulse, but this one I had to go for.

candide the most recent

before that, i picked up 5 books at my grandparents':
catch 22 (heller)
the autobiography of ben franklin
myth of sisyphus (camus)
the possessed (camus)
random short lecture in book form: christian philosophy and intellectual freedom by anton pegis

and before that, i picked up 9 at the thrift store:
holy war inc. (peter bergen)
clear and present danger (tom clancy)
a heartbreaking work of staggering genius (dave eggers)
state of denial (bob woodward)
paper money ("adam smith")
the greatest generation (tom brokaw)
nyc public library guide to reading groups
saving shiloh (phylis naylor)
man's search for meaning (victor frankl)

paid 8.50 for the thrift store books, others were free (on my end)

bolded is the only one of these i've read thus far

This might work out okay - stay on the edge of your seats, everyone!

Oh, I can't agree with that.

Anyway, I left it on the bus and (almost unbelievably) some kind soul handed it in.

I picked up a used hardcover copy of Cormac McCarthys All the Pretty Horses. My current favorite author. :heartbeat:

"The Crossing" is probably my favorite of the Border Trilogy. It's the only book that I cried during.

Candide and Catch 22 are two of my favorite books. If you like those I would suggest you read some Vonnegut.
