Got to see this tonight. It was just like going back to the first. A proper follow up. Don't know about your area, but they didn't do much advertising here for it, just a fluke that I looked it up to see when it would get here and it was already playing.

really mixed feelings on this. i hate what they did with Sick Boy, and his girlfriend is portrayed by a bad actress, and they're like 50% of the story.
loved what they did with Begbie and his son, and Spud was great too. Renton is more or less the same guy.
thought the new "choose" speech was better than the original, but then i thought some of the interstitial pop culture footage peppered throughout the flick felt really out of place this time around.
renton and sick boy's grifting schemes were poorly conveyed, and everyone is holding a disproportionate grudge against renton for taking off with their £16k. they keep referring to his living off their money for years in Amsterdam, but i'm not sure the math checks out.
renton's run up the mountain with spud really made me feel something, as did the first heroin relapse scene with sick boy and renton. but then watching begbie pop a viagra and chug a beer and try to fit in at the club felt mean spirited.
