I watched the first ep and wasn't into it (I loved The Wire and liked Show Me a Hero well enough). This one just didn't grab me out of the gate, and anyway there's too much tv I can't keep up with.

The first episode of a Simon show is literally "here's some characters and maybe what they'll do"
Why would you give up after one episode?

Because I've only got so many hours to veg out, and Curb and Broad City are guaranteed to entertain.

Who's doing some good episode recaps of this show?

Well, there's the AV Club, which have been okay. I haven't really seen much of anything elsewhere.

Yeah, I'm surprised The Ringer hasn't been all over this. They cover every other goddamn HBO show. There's a new baby Scans in the house now so I only watch segments when I can find time, which makes the recaps helpful.

I loved the Buffalo reference.

I've watched enough David Simon shows that I was able to guess Leon's final line exactly.

I still think Vince and Abby aren't going to end well; the fact that she's using him still seems to be going over his head, but it's going to come crashing down soon.

I was very worried that CC was going to be in that bus station.

I can't believe next week is it for Season 1.

Has anybody been reading/hearing the rumors for Season 2? What I heard was:

Spoiler: show
The show is going to jump forward 10 years and it'll be the '80s, then Season 3 will be the '90s. Not sure how true this is.

I hate James Franco with the heat of a thousand suns. But I’m in.

He's pretty alright in this. Very believable

His performance as the twin brother is exactly how I imagine him to be in real life.

I still don't believe it, actually.

I like the set more than the story in this show. Actually, I really, really like the set in this show.

I used an HBO trial just to watch this show last week.

It was actually pretty good. I liked it more than Treme and it has a similar vibe to The Wire, though that's obviously the gold standard when it comes to HBO/David Simon shows.

Not enough Black Frankie this season.

It felt like the first two really didn't accomplish a ton. I suppose that's the result of fast forwarding a couple of years (77) now so they have to reestablish where the characters are. The third episode though was fucking aces.

Spoiler: show
Method Man as a heroin addict is spot on acting

and the last scene with CC and Dorthey at the bar was about as tense as I can ever remember seeing on TV.
