I'm a cinephile, probably seen ten thousand movies, and Fifth Element is in my top 30 movies of all time. I smiled when you said this was better, but when you go on to say you hate Fifth, that sort of leaves that statement blank.

Some more thoughts:
Rhianna's scenes were fantastic. She's only in for a short time but she was great.
I liked the two lead actors, but the only thing I didn't care for in the movie was what he was pushing her to agree to. It seemed like it was unnecessary.
The people from Mül were beautiful, emotional, fantastic. I loved them
The scene in the market is the most imaginative thing I've seen in a modern sci fi movie in years. Decades even.
they introduced him, set him up, then he disappeared until the very end. We knew who he was but the main characters really didn't until the end, which let the story be built more, I believe.
Like LV said, the opening 15 minutes were something really special
I want to see it again. I don't think I missed anything but need to absorb the scenery more as I was focused on the story the first time around.
What a great movie. I wasn't expecting this at all.

I'm trying to think of who would be better choices for the leads. I think Zac Efron would be a good Valerian, but I'm having trouble thinking of anyone for Laureline. Maybe just keep Delevingne, I guess.

Yeah they were fine, I just didn't like that little story between them that made him seem like he was groveling

I wanted to try and see this in the theatre since it seems like a big screen movie but its only playing twice a day at odd times which is weird...I guess they aren't expecting much box office.

It was pretty good.
It's practically a sequel to 5th Element or the same universe, its just a lot noisier and busier (doesn't anyone understand contrast anymore?). Not near as good and has fewer iconic bits, though.
The character bits fall flat.
The part with the feast was my favorite bit.
A lot of people are criticizing the two leads, but I thought the girl was fine. The guy was pretty bland, though.
It has a cringy love speech that makes the one in Interstellar seem like high art in comparison. yikes.
I liked Bob.
I'm not sure if Durden will approve of the gender rolls, friend, but he'll probably fall in love with eyebrows girl if he's not already.

I hope its just not a hyper ramped up version of fifth element.

It's probably the obligatory non franchise movie bomb of the summer, but this is the only thing I care about seeing.
sadly, also true.

I just don't get the hype for Cara Delevingne; She's like resting bitch face personified.
I found her a lot less annoying than I thought, but she didn't have a lot to work with.

Two totally different movies. I'm as big a fan as it gets with 5th Element, but you can't compare the two, they are trying to do two different things. The only thing comparable is that they are both enjoyable

Oh Burt.
I'm around a lot. Just let me know when you're ready to say what you really want to say.
i don't know how I could be more clear. What do you think I'm hiding?
Backhanded humor ans passive aggressive digs are fun. But they're nothing to hide behind. You'll feel better if you just say. And maybe we can move on. Obviously you aren't interested in being friends. And that's fine. I've made my peace with it. But I'm ready to be done with... this.
