Im not surprised that some people might not enjoy this or there would be negative reviews.

People have their very own personal relationships with Bourdain. We all kind of seem to think we know him in some way that relates to our world. It was his beauty.

And when the doc dips a toe in that theme/idea it's glorious and moving. I wish there was more of that. This filmmaker seemed more interested in other things.

Ill expand a litte more....i really liked it. I feel its a good snapshot of his talents and what it made him unique. And and the same time, its not scared to point out his demons and insecurities.

I dont feel it blames Asia at all, it kinda points out how much he changed around her. The last part is a difficult view but its also pretty honest.

I ripped through "In the Weeds" a couple weeks ago -- it covers the shooting of Bourdain's TV shows on Travel Channel and CNN from the perspective of one of the shows' main directors. Highly recommend it. The author's emotional wounds are still raw and on display throughout.

I found Roadrunner wonderful and brutal, much like In The Weeds. I have also found my appreciation for his work (and that of his amazing collaborators) increasing in contrast to the man himself. He was a deeply flawed human and I’m not sure he (or just about anyone, for that matter) deserves the “hero” moniker but you can’t help but admire the work and its profundity.

The Asia Argento stuff, much more so in the book, is uncomfortable and seems unfair. It feels like his friends and colleagues are looking for someone to blame for his suicide. It was Bourdain’s choice, no matter how aggrieved he may have been as a result of her apparent dalliance or separation. That said, the sentiment is human and you can tell they’re still sorting out how they feel about it all.

(I’ll caveat that by saying the most stunning sequence of the entire doc to me was in Hong Kong when Bourdain interrupts that guy while he’s laying bare his soul. My jaw dropped. If that was due to her influence, then yikes.)

Good review , I also liked it a lot. I don’t think it blames Asia that much, it does point at how much he changed around her.

Also the guy who fucks up that scene is Christopher Doyle not Asia.

It's fairly prevalent.
Any scotch ordered neat should have a small glass of water served with it, ice water in a tall glass to complete.
