Saw the Dead Weather open for Sleater-Kinney in 2005 or so, they slayed! Have never really connected with any of their records though.

Third Man Records is a cool spot, while I don't love Jack's music, I think the little world he's built is really something special.

There's a posthumous Bourdain segment in this new LSD thing on Netflix.

He tells a story about pulling a Hunter S. Thompson and doing a bunch of drugs with his buddy and some hitchhikers, it's reenacted by the guys from Workaholics, it's pretty funny.

Watching the Ethiopia episode now. Marcus Samuelsson's wife is so fucking beautiful. And this is a heavy episode. One of my favorites

To be fair, did Bourdain ever actually have a bad episode of any of his series? I don't think so.

We talked about this within the last few pages, but there are some eps of No Reservations where you can tell he’s frustrated by the network interference and is phoning it in

Yeah the later episodes are less than great. There's a certain mania to them too. The one in southern Italy with Asia is awful.

I love the Hong Kong one Asia directed. Might be a top 5 for me.

Fair, the Uruguay one rules. I didn't love the BA one, too much time spent dwelling on the "Argentina loves psychoanalysis" bit.

Yeah I agree with Mickey. BA looks amazing and I hope to visit someday, but the psychoanalysis stuff got old.

I'm trying to remember now, where was the ep shot? I mostly remember the scenes near Aeroparque Newberry. I'll also note that I watched that one after living in BA/surroundings for a year, so part of my disappointment was that every minute on the couch was a minute not spent seeing the city I missed.
