This is a brilliant film. I haven't read the story it's based on, but if it really is better than the film, then holy shit.

A couple of reviews I just read after watching the movie made a big deal of the political point of the movie, which is absolutely there, but is far from the only point it makes. Really hope the film's awesomeness doesn't go overlooked because of that.

hi rafa...i'm glad you enjoyed this

i'm looking forward to seeing it

Hi len.

I'm looking forward to you seeing it so we can then exchange thoughts on it.

i'll try...i'm not very good at expressing my thoughts though

after being let down by interstellar i'm been craving a good new sci fi flick

Interstellar is flawed as all fuck, but I still loved it. Arrival is a very different film, though.

Sci fi is quickly becoming my favorite genre. I only recently saw Moon for the first time and it blew me away. Ex Machina was bonkers too.

Big sci-fi fan here. Some of my favorites:

Dark City
12 Monkeys
Gattaca
Children of Men
A Scanner Darkly
Brazil
The Thing
Dr. Strangelove ("sci-fi" is maybe a bit of a stretch?)
Edge of Tomorrow

I wouldn't call this sci fi lads. It's barely a wallpaper to the heart of what it actually is.

There's some stuff here I need to check out. Thanks.

I remember watching Dark City when it came out and remember getting a headache. I should give it another try.

How badly would I come off if I said The Matrix really tickles my sci fi spot?

I agree it tackles a wide variety of subjects, but its background of aliens and technology is more than enough to place it in sci fi territory.

The Matrix is an amazing movie. I just wanted to list some that aren't necessarily as well known as the big ones (2001, T-2, Wr of the Worlds, etc). I'm still surprised by how much I loved Edge of Tomorrow -- had really low expectations for that one, but it's a blast. Source Code is another great, fun sci-fi movie that I forgot to list, and that I think deserves way more praise than it seems to get.

Wanna hear something sad?
The majority of my friends don't want to see it cos they think it's sci fi 'aliens and shit'.

I'm not kidding. Trying to let them know that a huge loss on their part and perhaps the marketing did too good a job on the opposite sense cos lots of sci fi fans won't go cos it's not sci fi enough.

I think this film should be required viewing regardless of your tastes. It's so far beyond a point called good that we've settled for the last decade. This film is brilliant.

It's hard to get large numbers of people to see thought-provoking films. That's why so few of them come out of Hollywood.

This one is mind bending though. So yeah. You're right.

This is a Kurt Vonnegut thriller.

Same. Taking some friends who have seen next to nothing in terms of trailers/commercials for this.

Pretty sure I'm seeing this tonight and I know next to nothing about it other than the aggregate score on RT.

Best way to see it. People seem to be coming away annoyed with it cos it wasn't what they expected. Aliens lasers explosions. It couldn't possibly be further from that.

And it's brilliant for it.
