It's interesting how many dudes who don't read the WW comics have such an issue with the themes of the film. It's like, just read a goddamn Wonder Woman comic and you'll know what it's about.

Uggggghjhjjh Jesus fucking Christ man

I understand your frustration. But this movie is based on decades of work that came before it. Like it or not. That's the way it is. I'm not saying that the film can't/shouldn't stand on it's own. It should. And I think it does. But the bottom line is that it's still an adaptation. And the whole crux of the WW origin and so much of what that character is about is love. And humanity. And all the other things explored in the film. The themes of the film are inherent in the original text. People who take issue with what the movie is about and the themes of love toward the climax tend to be people that are unfamiliar with the source material. You can uggghghehdeindfdklndijflddddkkkkllffff all you want but that's the case. And the less you know about the source material, the bigger disadvantage your are at regarding any adaptation.

And I just really loved how WW was so completely feminine. She wasn't just a damaged woman who kicks all the asses. But she exemplified the feminine in every way. It wasn't just refreshing but revolutionary in American action cinema. I goddamn loved it. And I think the response we're seeing (woman who literally cry at the action sequences) is such perfect proof of that.

"Just a damaged woman?" What?

There are a lot of "empowered" female roles in movies where the woman is "empowered" because she's got issues. You're too smart to not see that.

Men should not be allowed to watch movies if they are gonna act like this.

I dont think you have to love or know the source material to love or hate a movie at all. Its a different thing, and if its successful you will run to buy the comics or books or whatever.
