Is there a way to l speed up podcasts on soundcloud? I like speeding up youtube podcasts and Audible books up to 1.5x speed.

Downcast can do this.

Two new podcasts coming from the Nightvale people. The more interesting one is I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats:
Quote:
Night Vale Presents’ second nonfiction project can perhaps be described as a take on the music documentary, though that description might not be enough. I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats is set to be a deep dive into the sonic world of the beloved American indie folk band. Hosted by lead singer John Darnielle and Night Vale co-creator Joseph Fink, the first season will explore the band’s sixth album*, All Hail West Texas, with each episode training its focus on a different song on the record, with Darnielle and Fink in conversation about songwriting, storytelling, and current events. (Each episode will also feature a cover version of the song in question, performed by artists like Sylvan Esso, Andrew Bird, and Amanda Palmer.) I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats appears to be less of a music documentary and more a companion guide, and it seems ripe to challenge the way we think about what’s possible with the music-podcast genre.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I'm digging it.

Great way to catch up on Game of Thrones with recaps and insightful commentary/discussion.

Oh, I'm listening along and trying to watch along. Just one episode left in Season 3, then I'm on the backstretch!

Can't help but thinking it would've made more sense to do this before the final season, but they probably got the idea and then wanted to do it before someone else came up with it. I'll be excited if someone at The Ringer does this for a series I haven't watched before, like Breaking Bad.

I would love a season about the Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, LOST, or some other show that ended years ago.

For fans of Startup, this trailer for a Zach Braff ABC sitcom (the new ep of Startup is Alex talking about how it happened). The show looks dumb as hell.

I really only listen to NYT's "The Daily" and NdGT's "StarTalk."

Sword and Scale episodes 93 and 94 (and the host's follow-up apology/clarification on Soundcloud) were the most worthless fucking podcast episodes I've ever listened to. What a waste of time. Mike Boudet is a goddamn dilweed. My podcast feed is down to just MBMBaM, Chapo Trap House and Radiolab.

I only really have the bandwidth for like one more (~hour-long) to replace S&S.

What sort of cachet does NPR have in BA (or is there a high-quality South American equivalent)?

Details? I only got through like the first 15 episodes and was like "Meh."

Speaking of bad podcasts, the Sofia Coppola WTF is one of the worst things I've ever heard. Maron turns into a drooling moron when he starts talking about film.

He's gone off the rails lately, talking about the "craft" of acting and misusing words like "mis en scene". First Obama came by, then GLOW happened, and it seems to have all gone to his head.

I don't think it was her fault. She seems shy and soft-spoken. Maron did nothing to bring anything interesting out of her.
