On today's episode of Radiolab (which was about jury nullification and was quite fascinating, to be sure--they called the cops on one of their guests!) they mentioned that season two of "More Perfect" is coming soon. Hooray!

So has it ever been discussed how the HDTGM guys record their shows? Because if a stoner like Doug Benson can handle this shit, wtf is going on here. The latest show sounds terrible at the beginning and I honestly don't know if it's because I got used to the crap sound or if the sound improved eventually...all I know is I had to turn the show up quite a bit to listen to it while I worked out.

I've been listening to Convicted, which is about a guy convicted of murdering his daughter who claims to be innocent. It's not bad, but it's SO much like Serial it's kind of off-putting, this girl hosting it is trying to talk like Koenig and produce this podcast in the exact fashion she did Serial S1. Also, I seem to have way more doubt about this guys' innocence than she does, but other than those two things it's pretty good.

Riding in to work this morning, I stopped at a red light only to hear the guy in front of me listening to something on a speaker. As I got closer, I realized I recognized the voice: it was Dan Ryckert from the Giant Beastcast. So I blurted out "Hey, is that Dan?" The guy looked surprised when he turned and said, "Yes?" So we chatted for a bit until the light turned green. He said I was the first person he'd met who listens to the podcast.
And if you read that article, yes he is kind of an idiot. I'm still not sure if it's an act or not because he does act dumb but then there are moments when you realize he's pretty damn smart. Who knows. It makes for hilarious conversations on the podcast though.
