Currently listening to a 2019 episode of a pod called Weird Studies about William Gibson's novel Pattern Recognition. Really interesting how prescient that novel was.

never read it. Is that the one about the psychic marketing wizard? Such a cool premise. But I've struggled to connect with Gibson's writing.
Yeah, that's the one. Protagonist gets physically ill when she sees a logo. There's also an interesting plot point centered around anonymous found footage being uploaded to the internet and a forum devoted to discussing it.

Yeah same, but if anyone could find actual interesting stories from that world for me it would be PJ. I'll listen to the 15 minute intro episode just to hear his voice again then we'll see..
Hard to imagine PJ solo without Alex Goldman as a foil though.

Okay just listened to the intro ep and fuck it, I'm in.
It promises to be a limited series, and sounds like it's a skeptical, amusing look at the bizarre underbelly of the crypto community in a voice that only PJ could use. In short, it sounds like a classic multi-episode Reply All reporting arc.
I've got some daunting tasks ahead of me today and a good headphone companion is just the trick to keep me focused.

Sad to see this end, even if I lost touch after PJ left. Reply All was the first podcast I really fell in love with. They had so many good stories in those early years, and the rapport between the two original hosts was just the best. So it goes.
