The Jo Koy stand up on Netflix was pretty funny.

Watched Chappelle's new specials. The first had some funny stuff and felt like a legitimate concert film. The second is astounding. It's just him talking to 50 people about shit going on that week, that day, and it's funny. And fucking ballsy. He says shit no other famous people would. He talked about Louis CK and it was heartfelt and brave and, man, I just admire his skill. He's peerless.

i really, really enjoyed both of these specials. much more than the previous netflix specials he put out. i loved the two different settings for these, shows how versatile he can be. that second one was full of really poignant and touching commentary.

i'm also laughing at the fact that people are "up in arms" about a few of the jokes he made, which proved his point exactly.

goddammit, why do i even skim the headlines of some websites.

Yeah the two new Chappelle specials are great. Much, much better than the previous specials he put out recently.

I'll check them out, or at least one of them. The last two were really fucking lame

I agree. I nearly didn't watch these because the last two sucked. But I was bored and it Netflix was pushing it on me hard.

I thought Dave Chappelle’s The Bird Revelation was super good.

RIP Barry Crimins. Way more influential to today's comedy scene than a lot of people realize. Watch "Call Me Lucky" if you've got the time.

Went out to see Nate Bargatze tonight. His delivery is fantastic. He was getting big laughs from, if you go by how the mc was received, a pretty discerning crowd, and he was doing it without swearing. Tha always impresses me. So much harder. Going through the list of comedians I’ve personally seen who didn’t swear - Seinfeld! Steven Wright, and this guy. After the show I wondered why I don’t go out for more live comedy.

Cosby kept it pretty clean. On stage, anyway.

Went to see Patton Oswalt at the Comedy Store. What a shit show:

We had been up since 345am to catch a 6am flight to LAX. After a long and busy day in LA, we were running low on steam but still committed to catching the 9pm show. Out of twelve comics on the bill, Patton was the headliner so we figured he'd go on around 1130-12pm. We bought tix ahead of time, so we could show up a little later.

Doors were at 830, show at 9pm. Parking was a bitch, and we had spent a good 20 minutes bickering about that before finally finding a spot about 1/2 mile away. We got to the venue at 945. They had given our seats away to someone else, and made us stand outside until two others left the club. We could hear Patton on the stage -- for some reason they put the headliner on 3rd! They finally let us in and sat us at a jizz-covered table in the back corner, next to these two people who were likely on cocaine (talking very loudly, multiple trips to the bathroom, frequent visits from the bouncer asking them to calm down). We caught the last five minutes of Patton's set, which was all recycled material from Annihilation.

There's a two drink minimum, so even though the wife and I are miserable, we've made it this far so we order some shitty tequila and Corona for $40 + tip. Up next are Bobbly Lee (Mad TV, horrible set), Sebastian Maniscalco (fine), Jeff Ross (really funny and dark), Neal Brennan (the highlight), and Erik Griffin (Workaholics, obvious jokes but great energy).

The wife and I are exhausted, annoyed, and hating life. Just then cokehead next to me slams into our table and spills our drinks all over me. I jump up, say "Fucking A, fuuuck you man!" and walk out; the wife follows without a word. We drive home in silence...

Found out the next day that Hannibal Burress and Bill Burr both dropped in to do unannounced sets.
