his "Too Real" had me in stitches. the way he delivers lines are interesting to me. His internal dialogue matches mine often so thats why I took to it. The special started off with a bang but certainly started to falter as time went on.

Have you listened to WTF? I bet you’d love it.

i have really tried to get on board with Tig Notaro, but it's just not working.

"So i got cancer, had a double mastectomy. Then my mom died. Then my girlfriend got pregnant with twins while Louis CK sexually assaulted a bunch of my friends." [crowd goes wild]

she's extremely hit or miss with me. she gets a lot of laughs when i have no idea why... but then there are times where she cracks a great joke and i'm dying.

I watched Norm Macdonald’s Hitler’s Dog the other day and I thought it was pretty great. I have trouble finding comedy specials I like but I laughed my ass off at this one. It’s refreshing to hear a comedian whose act is basically “I know I’m dumb” as opposed to the faceless droves of comedians who shout their self-congratulatory, pandering opinions at you

Have you tried Neal Brennan's 3 Mics? I feel like you might enjoy it.

Yep, tried that one the same day. I bailed quickly.

Understandable. I also bailed the first time I tried to watch it, but seeing him live in LA a few weeks ago made it click for me.

Norm is great. He seems to have a lot of problems, but he is funny as heck.

Norm MacDonald is a god among men.

Or maybe a demi-god.

Had some time and no podcasts so I listened to some comedy albums.

Listened to No Cure for Cancer for the first time in...wow, probably two decades. Hasn't aged well.

Listened to the John Mulaney album The Top Part and it was OK. He doesn't tell jokes well but he does stories alright. Given it was his first album - and I've not seen him in anything else, either - I might check out a Netflix special or something.

Read the Mike Birbiglia book Sleepwalk With Me with my with my son and we were both cracking up at the stories in it. I've heard some of his albums before (Dog Years and Two Drink Mike) and even the story about him jumping out of the window back when it first aired on The Moth, so it didn't surprise me too much. I think most of my fun from it was laughing with my son. Still, I really enjoy his delivery. He put out a podcast where he goes through his albums with someone (one episode had Mulaney, hence why I sought him out) and they talk about parts they like. The episode with his brother made me wish I didn't listen to it because it takes some of the shine off the act. Hard to explain that one.

Those last few weeks he was on SNL were a massive disaster, and I've never been able to get past that.

Maybe it was the fault of the writers, but I've never seen someone fail so hard.

nice, what were some highlights? curious how he's applying the observational humor to the modern world

There were no politics whatsoever. The funniest stuff was about being married with kids. He had some good bits about different foods and smart phones that were particularly funny.

There was one guy in the crowd that kept yelling “let’s go Predators!” and Jerry let loose on him for a couple of minutes.

As expected, it was a pretty clean act, but he did curse A LOT more than I expected. He did not say fuck or shit, but goddamn seems to be his favorite swear.

All in all a very fun time.
