The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Laura's diary. Why would a Doppelgänger use a diary? I feel like it's more plausible and also more challenging to our ideas of human nature, evil and temptation to know that the real Laura is who we saw in FWWM.
Nobody is going to hate the new Twin Peaks series more than some ardent fans and I can't wait.
Only watched 1 and 2 so far but, man, I have to stop reading Twin Peaks boards for this reason; the disappointment, bordering on visceral hatred, is a bummer.

I think part of that intense fandom that maintained such a high level of interest in Twin Peaks after so many years also comes with a sense of ownership, some people go a bit bananas when that gets messed with.

I love it so much.
What boards are you reading?
The World of Blue forum at dugpa.com, mainly - the fan reactions to episodes 1 & 2 in the spoiler section.

It also dilutes Bob's obsession with and desire to be Laura.
Yeah, that too. Haha.
I definitely agree, but if that is the route they're going, I hope they can work around those problems. I think it was on Nerdist where they were saying that they've had 25 years to make sure that this doesn't suck.

I hate that element of pop culture: where people spend years building up what they think the next in a series of a shows/movies/albums should be. Then when it doesn't match their expectations they decry the work as garbage without giving it a chance. There are a lot great works of art that have been given a scarlet letter because the collective internet mob couldn't wrap their heads around something that didn't meet their expectations.
I was worried that discussion of the new season would be out of control by now. Happy that's not the case. I couldn't help myself to episodes three and four.
Not really a spoiler, but I want those who haven't seen it to feel as fresh as possible. This short exchange alone was worth the wait for me:
Anyone want to talk about that Wally Brando scene? While I loved how the first three episodes were some of the most surreal and puzzling moments of the series thus far, that scene and many others in the fourth episode were kind of a relief. Its something Twin Peaks has always done so well, and I was kind of afraid that the light hearted absurdity was going to be almost totally absent from this season. This show hasn't lost a beat.
I went ahead and read the spoilers. I'm relieved about your second comment. I would have been fine if they kept the tone of the first two episodes, but I would be lying if I said I didn't miss the soap opera-ness and humor of the original series. It's always been a nice way to balance out the heavy dark things that form the basis of the show.
I found 4 the (and, bear in mind, this is all relative) least enjoyable so far. I was absolutely gripped to the TV during 1, 2 and 3, a bit less so on 4. I'm finding Andy and Lucy a bit much and the Duchovny scene a little bit flat, bordering on fan-servicey. Probably one of those episodes that makes more sense when seen as part of a greater whole, a getting from point A to point B thing.
I wanted to rush to catch up because I thought the next part was airing this Sunday (or Monday, my time) - turns out it's not airing til the following week, bummer.

Yeah, it's parts 3 & 4 airing this week. Part 5 is next week.
