Sorry. I didn't mean that in a weird way. Just meant that our tastes in this stuff tend to be different. I happen to love The Long Walk. It's top tier King for me. Based on previous discussions I'd be surprised if you loved it. But I'm happy to be wrong. You should still check it out. I certainly don't think you'd hate it.
'Salem's Lot is pretty universally considered his best (or top 3at the very least). That's where I'd start.
I'm reading as much of 'Salem's Lot as I can on Google book preview. I'll probably buy it. I went my whole life having no idea 'salem in the title was a shortened version of Jerusalem.
We like a lot of the same stuff, btw. Always have. Even if we didn'-- ah nvm. whatever.

No, I know. But it's the stuff within the stuff that varies. If you know what I mean. I love Stephen King. And I expect you will love Stephen King. My guess is that we'll like different aspects of Stephen King though. If that makes sense.

I have a vivid childhood memory of seeing something on tv at a friend's house that I shouldn't have been exposed to at a young age. It was a scene featuring a tongue sticking out from a bleeding mouth. Or maybe the tongue itself was bleeding. I remember the sound design being kind of hollow and drony. Felt like a gorier david lynch scene. To this day I don't know if any of that actually happened or what, but I've always connected it with Stephen King.

I read ‘Salem’s Lot on a stormy night. At one point the wind was blowing tree limbs against my bedroom window and that combined with reading the book scared the absolute shit out of me.
