the sketches are way too conservative and risk-averse, and in the process way too predictable. and most of the times they are interminable. that's bad writing.

also, weekend update has morphed into something that makes what it was even 15 years barely recognizable. it's about 15% jokes, and 85% "guests." it's pretty obvious that they simply cannot come up with the material that good writing would have no problem conjuring up. again, bad writing.
