youngblood was easily the best part of the show

3-11-17: Scarlett Johansson/Lorde

Cold Open: This was stupid.

Monologue: ScarJo seems very jittery, like she's over caffeinated. The Fat Albert gig made me chuckle. The musical number was pointless. Second episode in a row with a non-event monologue.

Good Day Denver: Cecily and Bobby is such a winning combo. I laughed at "professional animal pornographer." Mikey Day is such a great addition to the cast; he makes even a straight-man role funny to watch. Scarlett is too good for this supporting role. She has such control of any part she plays, hopefully she'll be able to let loose as the ep goes on.

Cherry Grove: This was great. "That's an animal sanctuary, alright!" was an awesome line.

InnoTech: This was really fun, and the dog's behavior was the icing on the cake. ScarJo handled the animal well enough, but I bet PETA will raise hell for a minute.

Olive Garden Commercial Shoot: ScarJo's faces were great; I feel like she could really do some great work in comedy. Keenan's orgasm face covered in pasta was great. Everything else was good enough I guess.

Complicit: Great premise and commentary, but not at all funny.

Lorde #1: I will never understand her popularity. Watered-down backing tracks with boring lyrics and overly wrought vox.

Weekend Update: The Trump jokes were decent; my favorite was the "brown color swatches" punchline. Wish they had actually gotten Al Franken back for the Sessions bit, but the impression is great. Kate McKinnon is clearly having a ball with the Sessions character. "Puppy Funeral, Minnesota" was a great punchline. Pete Davidson's bit was really good, dark and biting stuff. There was some news this week about his quitting marijuana; he stated that he wants to branch out beyond the weed/slacker humor. He's off to a good start with this showing.

True Tales From the Sea: Oof, this character is so creepy. It's a funny skit, but it always makes me feel more uncomfortable than anything.

Shanice Goodwin: Ninja: Terrible.

Lorde #2: No wonder I hate this, it's a Jack Antonoff song.

Women't Issues: This was ok.

David's Funeral: This was odd and not very funny.

Good episode, not great. Lots of strong material in the first half of the show, but nothing amazing. The second half was pretty weak. ScarJo seemed game for anything, I wish the staff took some bigger risks with her. Mikey Day is climbing up the ranks, and I'm hopeful for the next stage of Pete Davidson's career on SNL. Che and Jost continue to have a good rapport. I really do not like Lorde's music, and I can't stand Jack Antonoff.

Best skit: Either Cherry Grove or Innotech. Cherry Grove had my favorite jokes of the night, but Innotech maintained the funny more consistently.

Worst skit: Shanice Goodwin: Ninja.

I actually liked the ninja and the funeral. I thought I was going to hate the funeral one when it stared but I was laughing by the end.

And Lorde sounded awful.

I appreciated them both for their zaniness, but can't say I laughed at all.

I want to get caught up on SNL (I'm two episodes behind now) but I can't justify NOT watching Gilmore Girls.

Guys, I think I might have a problem.

Holy shit, that Olive Garden sketch was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.

Okay, seriously, why does Bobby Moynihan never do fucking anything on this show?

It's funny, I have no sense of him as a sketch writer. He just be a really strong performer who works off other writers' sketches. That can be a really hard way to find airtime given the way the show is operated.

I'll agree with the consensus here; some pretty good sketches early on then tapered off in the second half.
I'd like to see more of Monyihan too.

It was a pretty big improvement overall from the previous episode.

i think day and moffat have improved quite a bit...mckinnon, bennett, and moynihan are easily my top three at this point, and mooney would be up there if he had more opportunities

Saw that, but thanks for posting. I'm happy for the guy -- he's probably ready for a new challenge. But I'll definitely miss him on SNL.

Nice bounce back after last week's horrible episode...

Cold Open: I'm over Alec Baldwin's Trump impression. It was funny during the debates, but now it's a caricature of a caricature - and a bad one at that.

Good Day Denver: This was great up until the odd Kenan bit at the end.

Olive Garden Commercial Shoot: Very funny, especially the Olive Garden customers would laugh at a 2 foot tall waitress comment

Weekend Update: Pete Davidson was great.

Shanice Goodwin: Ninja: Not that good, but I love the I'm also a cashier at Kohl's line

Women's Issues: This was great.

David's Funeral: Funny, but I couldn't understand a lot of what Scarlett was singing.

The ninja skit felt like a direct ripoff of Beverly Hills Ninja
