It was outstanding.

I don't watch SNL often. This episode was the first I've watched from beginning to end since 08. But I fucking LOVED that skit. One of the best I've seen in a long, long time.

Seriously, it was.

It was literally the first time I've laughed out loud watching an SNL skit in three or four years. It was charming and well written. It was a joy to watch.

Yea. Definitely the best of the episode, but McKinnon's commanded better skits than this.

B+ by more-recent SNL sketches standards, or overall?

I haven't watched any episodes this year :( I'm not a hater, I just never stay up that late, and never remember to record it. I've always kinda watched the reruns anyway, mainly via Comedy Central back in the day. I don't think they play them anymore though.

Comedy Central is currently doing reruns of recent years, but they're still not doing classic episodes. There's going to be an NBC streaming service next year that will allegedly carry every episode (minus the musical performances).

It was funny. That's all. It wasn't great or the best thing ever. But it was fun. And watching them all support each other and play through the breaks was heartwarming and endearing.

At the end of the day it was fucking skit. One, I'll probably forget about eventually like all the other skits I've ever seen. Only the feeling will remain.

I have to admit that the current incarnation is the worst I've ever seen. The writing is just soooo tired lately, and there are too many castmembers who manage to get a ton of screen time despite being only moderately funny (I'm thinking about Aidy Bryant and Jay Pharoah).

But I think it all comes down to the writers room. There was a great run where Adam McKay --> Tina Fey --> Seth Myers ran the writers room. Then it was Colin Jost, and I'm not sure who took the lead once he stepped down to focus on Update.

Also, the Live From New York book is a must-read for any longtime fans of the show.

i've come around just a little bit on aidy Bryant, but i feel like she just plays the same character over and over

My internet is full of people sharing that skit with comments like, "this is amazing" and "I'm crying" and "Kate McKinnon is my hero" and "so hilarious."

Looks like all you too cool for schoolers can go straight to hell with your terrible taste and your nay-saying.

8-)
