the only part of that skit that made me laugh was the first time Chris Redd said, "pass..."

Isntagram and flower skit were great. Laughed at Bowen humping everyone.

Other than that awful episode.

i thought the one where Jake played Doc Holliday was good. i think it would've been better if the whole thing was him spewing fluids.

The Instagram skit was ok, but it highlighted a big problem with the writing on this show. It’s so repetitive. In that skit they repurposed the same punchline three times (about the DM’s leading to sex). It was funny the first time, but it lost its punch. They could’ve written two different jokes for the next two contestants and that skit could’ve been great.

Alas, this is the state of the show today.

Agree with this.

It’s Second City/Groundlings 101: Repeat it three times. The pathway to success in sketch comedy is so well defined now that it’s tough for them to think outside the box. Makes me long for the early to mid 90s when the cast was primarily standup comics who knew nothing about sketch format.

The show is very predictable these days too. Not just in topics, but the way the show is laid out. I dont feel like it was always like this? Maybe in the last 10 years? I'd have to check my liner notes but....

Cold open, monologue, sketch, pre recorded sketch, sketch, music, weekend update (too many guests), etc.etc..

There was always a format, but it really became staid during the Samburg era. Their pre-taped skits were so successful online, and the ability to make pro-sounding pop songs on a laptop gave them another avenue for streaming replays. Then the addition of guest stars for 1-2 skits did the same thing.

It’s all about streaming replays now. Does a skit have a shot at going viral?

Willow Smith held a guitar on stage and didn’t play a single note. I’m ashamed at how much anger I hold for her and her brother.

They should’ve had her slapping notes on a bass.

Black Eyed Peas and Six Flags old man sketches?
One of the weakest episodes of the season.
A couple weeks off before the last new ones for the season.

Johnson's Trump is so good but they can't quite get the look right, ya know?

Benedict Cumberbatch hosts next week to start the season’s last run of new episodes. Arcade Fire will be the musical guest.

Since my wife can't go, I hope it's no one she wants to see!

Maybe the wedding will fall through.
