DC onscreen has a million problems. Henry Cavill was absolutely not one of those problems. An incompetent studio having already ruined a potentially great franchise, kicking it after it’s dead by firing it’s only good asset.
this movie is a lot better than people give it credit for. the scenes of a young clark freaking out in school. the oil rig scene. the diner. everything about it works for me
the nit-pick i have is lois figuring out who he is to easily

Is this the one where they destroy the entire city with that 45 minute fight at the end?
the easiest explanation for this is the fact that he is just becoming Superman in the sense that we know from the comics and film. hes not aware of all the limits of his powers all he knows is he has to stop Zod from destroying the planet. im not sure the time frame in the movie but he just learned to fly what, 3 or 4 days before the fight in the city so its all relatively brand new to him

He’s actually given a really interesting explanation for this already:
“I wanted the movie to have a mythological feeling. In ancient mythology, mass deaths are used to symbolize disasters. In other countries like Greece and Japan, myths were recounted through the generations, partly to answer unanswerable questions about death and violence. In America, we don’t have that legacy of ancient mythology. Superman (who first appeared in ‘Action Comics’ in 1938) is probably the closest we get. It’s a way of recounting the myth.”

I used to really not like this movie. But I just watched it again and I've changed my mind. While I still think there is a little too much destruction (the end is fine, but it was overdone in Clark's hometown fight scene) Henry Cavill is a really great Superman.

Same.
Watched it the other night and loved it. Cavill does great here. And it’s just great as an origin story. It’s got seasons in it. Delicately and perfectly placed.
i agree about cavill also but i also disagree about the destruction. clark knew he was powerful but had no idea. people saying superman would never do that have to understand, he isnt really superman yet. hes learning on the job, its not like hes been supes for years and knows everything
