The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I'm finally watching it from start to finish. I've seen loads of random episodes over the years but never the whole thing. I'm at the end of season 5 now. I'm absolutely ready for Diane to leave and for Rebecca to come into the fray. Diane is unbearable in her final season.
On the plus side, I didn't think Coach was funny at all (R.I.P.), but Woody absolutely cracks me up. So I think seasons 6-11 will be more enjoyable.
I've not seen it said much, but Sam is by far my favourite character. Some of his line readings are absolutely spot on, he's so dry at times. The rest of the cast is stellar, but Sam is the man.

best TV sitcom of all time...
best TV sitcom character of all time...
best spinoff of all time...
this show is always a stop down for me if I see it on, but that's a LOT of shows to watch straight through... My wife says she hates this series, but any time she watches it, she winds up laughing her ass off...
Challenge: watch all the Frasier episodes after you're finished

I LOVED Coach... and Diane was MEANT to be the worst... She was GREAT at being the worst, and without her there are not nearly as many funny one-liners from Carla.
Rebecca was the most annoying character on Cheers, by FAR!

Frasier is a superior show to Cheers.
Maybe, but the characters in Cheers are more dynamic, and to me it's as simple as 'If it weren't for Cheers, Frasier wouldn't exist' kind of thing. Both shows had the same writers, the same style of humor, and both have the greatest character in TV sitcom history...

Disagree on the dynamic characters. If anything they were more settled into cliche, and Cheers occasionally suffered from being so within it's own world- same 9 people pretty much the whole time.
Frasier benefited from greater interaction outside his world- be it all his different bosses or girlfriends. More importantly, was on cheers it always felt like they were setting up jokes... Frasier (and niles) complete lack of awareness to the fact they WERE the joke was brilliant. Seeing these high brow, ivy league educated characters essentially caught in a universe of slapstick was just tremendous.

Cheers people showed up on Fraiser its cannon.
Yeah but isn't Frasier's dad dead in Cheers?
In one episode of Cheers, yes...
What do you think? Is Cheers canon in Frasier?
The characterization is also kinda different
I don't get what you're asking... Did Cheers characters make cameos in Frasier? Yes...
Was it awkward? Yes... Were there subtle differences in characterization btwn show Cheers and show Frasier? Yes... Was Frasier more of a prude in Frasier? Yes...
