One of the biggest problems with modern-day superhero movies is precisely how they've surrendered to the stale, pale, cardboard-y TV commercial visuals of the MCU instead of using imagery, design and cinematography imaginatively, as storytelling tools or to create something bright, vivid and beautiful. This is one problem that Aquaman does not have.

Okay, fine, sounds like they did that right but still "The action scenes were often really beautiful, but the film is filled with rushed exposition, awkward story beats and nonsensical/under-explained character motivations. " is every other modern day superhero movie.

Its like pop songs. THey all sound the same. They hit all the right notes to make you feel as if you were under your comfort blanket and favorite socks.

At one point in the movie someone tells Aquaman, while underwater, that he smells bad. And Aquaman sniffs himself, while underwater, and gags. So Aqua-people smell underwater? How do they get clean? They're already immersed in water. Doesn't that wash off whatever is making him smell bad (presumably sweat)? Do they use soap?

sometimes a movie is just a movie. its not meant to change your life, make you a better person. sometimes their only purpose(s) is to make money and give you something to forget about the shitty day/week you are having

if you put too much thought into a movie then that says a lot more about yourself than the movie

Hey, im all for stupid movies and mindless entertainment. Fuck, i still love pearl jam!

The superhero movies have begun to exhaust me. Its all just compute generated action and bright colors and big explosions. Its exhausting and has become a complete drag.

And i loved them for the first couple of years.

I dont like the character in the comics and this aqua bro DC made for the movies is awful, but the movie looks awesome and there are enough very good crafted scenes for me to enjoyed it in a theatre.

Will i watch it again? never. Did i had a good time? yeah.

There are many. Superman by Richard Donner, Batman and Batman Returns by Burton, The Dark Knight, Watchmen, Spider Man 2 from Raimi, Captain America 2, to name a few.

But i would say the batman movies are my favorite from all times, maybe because Batman is my man.

I like that it completely embraces the comic bookiness. Neat worldbuilding. Pretty bad at everything else. one of the worst scores/soundtracks in human history. and dialogue. And sound effects. Basically I'm saying watch this on mute.

Spoiler: show
wtf was nicole kidman wearing?

Yeah, it was a dull score. I downloaded it and listened again and it's almost as bad as the one for Deadpool.

This is not the first superhero movie for Jason Momoa, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe and Dolph Lundgren. Is that depressing?
