You just complained about bargain basement effects in an Evil Dead show.
Also, while I enjoy the 'Ash as dickbag' stuff, I like that his character is usually just likable enough that you want him to succeed. So basically every complaint you have had so far sounds like a plus to me.

The lo-fi tactility of the micro-budget practical effects in the original ED movies was not only charming, but aesthetically vital. The tacky CGI in that Jacksonville scene just felt lazy and cheap.

The special effects are perfect for the tone and feel of the show, McP
yeah, i loved the effects on the Jacksonville scene...i think the visuals are pretty cool..specially for the budget i guess they have...yeah, the cgi is not that good, for example on the doll scene...but overall is nice.

but there is such a low budget cheesy aesthetic to the original movies that it works fine. Ash is an incompetent schub and he fights the right kinds of monsters appropriate to the character.

Most recent episode was also longer on plot and character development than comedy. Since I really like Ash's two sidekicks I was fine with that, but I am hoping that the next episode goes a bit heavier into the classical feel of the show, since we just finished a pretty major plot arc.

Finally got around to watching last week's episode. Like you guys said, it was more of what I don't like. They are REALLY fucking up the Ash character. That whole funeral, followed by Ash giving condolences and shit? WTF? Ash should have been rolling his eyes and trying to hurry things along at that funeral. Ugh!

The next episode is a step back in the right direction. I'm really intrigued by the plot, really like the sidekicks, and unlike LV I actually enjoy that Ash has a bit of an arc to him.

Yyyyeeeaaahhhh, now that's what I'm talkin' about! Ash being an oblivious tool who falls in piss before brutally and hilariously slaughtering deadites. The "dine and dash" one-liner was vintage Army of Darkness. And it was great to see Ash, Pablo, and Kelly fighting as a team; they finally made sense to me when you see them all kicking ass together. And I'm glad the cop has joined up as well; no more sideplot.
