Let's stick to movies that were released theatrically to avoid a ton of Asylum garbage.

I submit this scene from Spawn - released in 1997 with a budget of $45 million.

Pretty shocking stuff. Bad animation, and textures that look like they're out of a PS2 game.

I saw this movie in the theater when it came out and I loved it.

I mean, the older movies will all be shit by comparison. Maybe we should do like 2010 onward?

That CGI face of Paul Walker in Fast and Furious right after he died was pretty bad

I actually kind of like it. It gives him an ethereal quality that I think works given the circumstances.

I see your point, it's easy to dunk on crappy 90s CGI, but there are plenty of examples of good CGI from that era. I'd say the Spawn example is bad even by the standards of 1997. The Matrix came out two years later and had a pretty comparable budget.

The Matrix sequels had some terrible CGi.

Yeah, picking on an early CGI scene like that feels too easy. And aside from its dated look, it is actually used in a creative, dramatic, and cool-looking way. That Spawn scene gets the Jorge seal of approval

horrifyingly bad. Like, should've scrapped whole scenes once they realized this was the best they could do kind of scenes

You guys are making me glad I didn't see the Matrix sequels at the theatre. I barely noticed anything wrong with the CGI watching them at home.

Midjourney diarrhea and Matrix sequels are two things I hope I never have to see. Fortunately, in the case of Matrix sequels, I’m probably safe at this point.
