We watched the first season of the Sopranos years ago. Have never watched Deadwood.
They're both great. The Sopranos is more of a touchstone in American culture, but I think Deadwood is better and it holds up better over time (Sopranos feels a bit dated). Gun to my head I'd say Deadwood but you can't go wrong, unless you watch Six Feet Under.

Have you ever spent any time in north Jersey? My wife’s family is from there and it doesn’t feel dated to me at all.

This past weekend I finished the 3 part series CHASING THE MOON on PBS.
It’s a great documentary and a shame our current space program is treading water. Maybe that’s not a fair comparison. They are pursuing more robotic exploration at the moment.
Wernher von Braun estimated we’d send men to Mars by 1985. Last time men left low earth orbit was 1972.

big little lies is starting to unravel..meryl is so good in this
The more I read about production/post production, the less enthusiastic I am about the show. I still think it's been solid all around. But I am worried about the home stretch given everything I've read.

Watched a couple of episodes of Home Improvement on Hulu the other day, for the hell of it.
Few takeaways:
1. I don't think that Tim's rapport with his sons or his come to Jesus moments at the end of every episode would be enough to redeem him if this series aired in 2019. What an oaf. Same goes for Frank Lambert's character on Step By Step (which is also available RN on Hulu if you have a morbid curiosity for tv nostalgia.) What was going on with midwestern sitcom dads in the 90s? Is this part of why we are where we're at as a culture now?
2. Wilson is even better than I remember him. If this series was made in 2019, he's be played by Nick Offerman. He's out there living a fully sustainable life of contemplation and wisdom, but he never lords it over his dipshit neighbor in an act of superiority or call-out culture. Wilson is the man.
3. Some of Jill's expressions are perfect when dealing with her sons and husband. I remember watching this as a kid and getting chills when she would grimace at something awful her boys did because it felt just like my own mom doing it to me. It still has its effect all these years later.
4. Was this one of the first sitcoms to really play around with camera angles? There's a few cutting edge scene transitions or frames here but I can't remember any to list.
5. Take a look at these red hats on the audience extras from Tool Time. This show weirdly predicted Trump's voter base.

Pamela Anderson got her start as the Tool Time girl. Just think, if she hadn’t been on that show, she’d have never gotten to suck Tommy Lee’s elephant trunk of a cock.

I think about this every day.
Amazing, isn’t it?

I feel like it's more likely Tommy Lee recognized her from her Playboy layout than her bit part on a family sitcom. Just spit balling here.
That’s not what I was saying.
If she hadn’t been on Tool Time, she wouldn’t have gone on to do Baywatch. If not for Baywatch, she wouldn’t have been in Playboy. Then, on to Tommy’s baby arm dong.

Wife learned about a Real Housewives-style show on Netflix called Yummy Mummies. It’s basically Real Housewives except they’re all pregnant, and they’re Australian. Hopefully this should occupy her for the next couple weeks’ worth of evenings so I can finish getting this nursery set up.

Hate the name, love the concept.
It makes sense for Australians. You have to think like them.
