I was honestly kind of surprised to read the negative reviews of season one.
My wife and I adore this show. The first season made me feel really nostalgic. The second season does a great job of expanding on the first and tackling the next logical set of themes/problems/relationships. Far from a perfect show, but it does what it does really well. And the cast is outstanding. Fred Savage is the clear MVP, though.

I agree. The characters are bit older than me, but I can relate to a lot of things in the show. I thought the second season was better, but enjoyed both.

Russian Doll is fucking excellent.
i saw the first ep and it was boring and dull. Even kinda of embarrassing.
A. This astounds me. B. The first episode is the least interesting.
Started this last night - watched the first two episodes, and I'm not really sold on it. Might give one more a go before deciding to pull the plug or keep going

Glad I kept with this. One episode to go and absolutely loving it! First episode at least I just couldn't relate to or even like any of the characters, so I didn't care - but it certainly got a lot better

Three episodes into the first season of Handmaid’s Tale. Slow, but promising.

Wife and I have knocked off the first five episodes over the last two nights, both of us have absolutely loved it.

Finished up S2 of Mrs. Maisel last night and wow. I know I said it before but S2 has someone on the camera who really like to set up a scene, whether it's the framing or the colors or the composition. Hell, sometimes it's the way they just set the camera and let it roll for those long extended scenes that have so much going on and seem like a real bitch to get exactly right and yet they look practically perfect every time. It's amazing.
It's so hard to pick a favorite here. The first half of the season was gorgeous in Paris and New York and then the second half of the season was just hilarious from Abe being front and center for the show or Midge doing the telethon. Hell, the scene where Susie gets out of the closet is played straight and then she has to say something about the plunger being sad and lonely and weak suction and I nearly lost it. So left field, but perfectly in line with my sense of humor.
The only thing that marred what was almost a perfect season was the cliffhanger at the end. The show is very well done from a writing standpoint so if they come back from the break
and she's pregnant with Joel's kid (it's practically yelled at you with the "you should have a third one, I did! isn't it great" bit in the hospital) but she's getting married to Ben and they don't know whose it is...I feel like they're a lot smarter than that but man that's what all the flags are pointing at.
That said, I still feel like it's a great show. Abe is my favorite character by far. Tony Shalhoub is brilliant in every scene and never fails to find a way to make me laugh at his performance when it calls for it. Just the best. It was a nice call-back (and you know it's going to come up) that he hired the same lawyer as Midge did. Fun stuff.
Is it weird that the characters are better looking than the actors playing them?
