Yeah but The Jerk is actually funny.
But I agree. A major problem is the laugh track. I notice that television comedy is veering away from the laugh track and gearing towards shows like The Office and Parks and Rec. We discussed this in the old forum. Arrested Development was the prime example, and that show is fricken hilarious. It's the kind of comedy that you laugh at because it's the same comedy (sarcasm & improv) acted out with your friends at a bar, and it's not forced down your throat. It's basically Woody Allen humor.
But I have to say, Tim Allen is a comedic genious. I watched a few Home Improvement episodes the other day, and the guy has great timing and character.
