The second half of Apatow's Garry Shandling doc on HBO. I liked Shandling as a comedian but didn't realize a lot of the off stage things that went on with him. One thing the doc left out, he was nominated for 18 Emmys but only won one; for writing the Larry Sanders finale. It was his last nomination. And I could have sworn that show ended in the early '00s but it went off in '98, same as Seinfeld. And it wasn't a heart attack that killed him, it was a pulmonary embolism.

Benson
Benson and the Governor go out golfing and while looking for the Governor's golf ball, they see a UFO. Benson vanishes and the Governor can't believe it. While trying to collect his thoughts the Governor sees Benson beemed back down but Benson has no idea what the Governor is talking about when he claims he was taken aboard a UFO. Benson realizes his watch is missing and blames the Governor, but the Governor is sure the UFO took his watch. The Governor tells his cabinet but nobody believes him. As they walk out, Benson tells the Governor to get some rest and turns off the light. The Governor notices that Benson is fucking GLOWING. Benson thinks it's just The phosphorecent from his laundrey detergent. The next day, the press has apparently found out about the sighting, and they are going to question the Governor. Benson however, is no longer glowing. The press questions the Governor and nobody believes him. Benson sticks up for the Governor even though he doesn't necessarily believe him, and the press has a field day with both of them. The papers come out the next day lambasting them both. There's even word that they may call for the Governor to resign. The cabinet wants Benson to sacrifice himself to save the Governor, saying he made it all up, but the Governor refuses. Meanwhile, the public has spoken out supporting the Governor, admiring his courage to speak out about the sighting. The Governor and Benson go back out to the golf course that night to see if the UFO shows up again. It does, and they both see it, but it doesn't beem either of them up. It plays Stars and Stripes forever and vanishes. Benson's watch is back on his wrist. They ponder what they witnessed and decide to sit back down again...hoping for it to come back, clearly in awe.

Re-watching Justified. I just caught that the realtor/real-a-tor wordplay joke in Santa Clarita S2 is a throwback to an Olyphant scene with Raylan’s ex’s new realtor beau.

Benson
Tonight, Benson has learned that his nephew, a stud college hoops player, can barely read or write. However, his nephew doesn't care because he has aspirations of being rich when he signs a big pro contract someday. His coach doesn't seem all that concerned either, because he's putting Mt Carmel College on the map, but Benson feels his nephew is simply being used. Over coffee, the Governor and Benson discus the issue and the Governor regales him with a tale of how he once had a pet pig that he tried to teach how to play fetch, but the pig simply wouldn't learn. He would throw the ball and fetch it himself to show the pig how it was done, but to no avail. Ultimately, he gave up. Benson organizes a pick up game with one of his buddies and his nephew. His buddy, a cable repair man, schools his nephew, as he was a former all american who never made it past training camp. He teaches his nephew a valuable lesson that he cant solely rely on the hopes of that big contract, and learning to read and write is just as important if his dream doesn't come true. His nephew sees the light and he and Benson share a moment together.

Leave It To Beaver.
June's Aunt Martha comes to stay with Ward and the boys when she has to go out of town. Aunt Martha, being a bit on the "proper" side, decides its time to reel in the Beav by buying him some new, more proper clothes. Beav, wanting to please his mom and follow Aunt Martha's direction while she's out of town, submits to her request. Aunt Martha buys the Beav a new outfit for school, short pants and a dorky hat included! Beav heads to school, wary of his new duds, and gets in a fight with Larry and the rest of the boys. Wally comes home and tells Ward what happened, and Ward understands, but is too afraid to stand up to Aunt Martha. The next day, the Beav heads out to school again in his dorky duds, and Ward heads him off outside in the garage. He changes the Beav into his normal clothes. The Beav thanks his dad, truly grateful. Ward heads out to work, leaving the duds in the garage so the Beav can change back into them when he gets home from school. June returns home and as they're seeing Aunt Martha out, the boys come down to say goodbye and the Beav wears the duds Aunt Martha bought him so he wouldn't hurt her feelings. Class, Beav....Class.
