The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
That episode is exactly everything I love about this show. Man, how can they possibly think doing this for another year is a good idea? I mean, money, yeah. I get that part. But from a storytelling perspective... that was the perfect ending to that side story.
And Bob Saget: "I always loved that joke." Fucking kill me now! Amazing.

It sucks because this wasn't a bad episode. I thought it was pretty well done and had me laughing at parts. I was annoyed that Ted is with another non mother girl, but the only consolation was I expected them to break up tonight. So now it's just another annoying side story.
This would have been a great episode 2 seasons ago.

I liked the episode. Wasn't quite as good as the previous one, but yeah. I'm happy that we're finally down to the last girl before the mother.

So does this mean that they're going to make a bunch of "lilly the art consultant" episodes to kill time til the end?
Ugh.
It will be there, but Lilly has been sidelined all year. I think they are just wrapping up all the old plot points (first Robin Sparkles, now The Captain and Lilly's life long dream to be an artist) before we meet the mother. I think there is going to nerd rage on the level of the Season 1 finale of "The Killing" if we don't met the mother this year.

Agreed. I think a lot of people would like to see how the mother fits in with Ted's crew, and next season could be that. I get the feeling, the show has always had an out, or enough plot lines that it could have wrapped up any season.
Plus, aren't there 2 more slap bets left? Or just one?
Nice episode, outside of the the Playbook backslide. I could have done without that. Just pure wheel spinning. And it neuters the burning of the playbook scene from earlier in the season and it undercuts the proposal.
Sarah said she thought they were going to say something about how Barney didn't want the plays to work now that he's engaged. That's why they were so lame and ineffective. It was like his subconscious was sabotaging him. Which I think would have been a great commentary and a fun way to bring the playbook back.
Maybe that's what they were implying.
Anyway, I laughed a lot. And I was actually really affected by the burning of the boots. I felt really badly for Ted.
