I've wondered a few times, especially now in the lead-up to the final season, if the writers feel compelled to create a story that is dramatically satisfying as a standalone thing even for viewers who've never seen Breaking Bad. Or if they are gonna rely on viewers' memory of Breaking Bad in order to deliver a satisfying finale.

The latter would feel like a betrayal of the show’s arch, and VG is too smart for that. My guess is it will be satisfying in its own right, but with an obvious nod or connective tissue to BB serving as a sort of post-script

I think the main thing it will accomplish is a connection to the past and the current day black and white scenes
