My bad, I thought Whiplash won it's second Oscar for screenplay. It won three overall, sound mixing & editing to go with Supporting Actor. I admit some of the categories starting mixing together as my beer count got higher. I was enjoying the party.

Neil Patrick Harris's jokes were falling astonishingly flat. He just kept bombing all night. I was surprised by that. That glass case joke went nowhere.

The writing was exceptionally bad this year. And Neil rarely looked comfortable. I wonder if he clashed with the writers. I thought the magic trick was pretty cool, though.

I thought NPH did a surprisingly good job (except for the predictions thing, which went on wwwwaaaayyyyy too long and wasn't funny at all). I actually prefer when a host's jokes "bomb" and make everything awkward. Tim and Eric would be my dream Oscar hosts.
The magic trick was super impressive. It just didn't read well in that environment. That kinda stuff doesn't do well on TV and over 3 + hours. But it was actually pretty fucking cool, I thought.
