His previous three, Incendies->Prisoners->Enemy is also a nice one-two-three

Yeah, I really like Incendies and Enemy. Wasn't a big fan of Prisoners.

Prisoners wasn't perfect, but it was gripping as hell. Uncommonly so. I put it on late at night, planning to watch half of it one day and the rest the next day. Even though i never felt myself loving the movie, I couldn't turn it off. That's rare and very difficult and impressive. It might be my favorite of his for that reason

Enemy was fun but hokey; definitely not as great as Arrival and BR2049. Prisoners looks upsetting, I'll probably never watch it. I know nothing about Incendies.

I'm impressed that Villeneuve has six movies over the last eight years, especially considering the scope of some of them.

It’s very hard for me to wrap my head around the facts that Scott:

1. Was 40 years old when he made his first film.
2. Is 80 years old.

I am not prepared for him to die any time soon.

That's good perspective. He's really a hugely underrated influence on the culture of the last forty years, if you think about it.

Gives me some hope that my second 40 years won't be as disastrous as the first.

The acting in Gladiator is so bad. I had to turn it off last time I tried watching.
