Cameron’s going for that?

Wow. That could be a game changer.

Hey, LV, what's the top of technology? Is there a point where it literally just cannot get better?

No.

I haven’t seen 8K yet, so who knows if I’ll change my tune once I do, but right now I am very skeptical that it will ever become a major consumer format. I’m not convinced there’s going to be much, if any, appreciable detail gain between 4K and 8K. On top of that, the amount of meaningful content available in 8K (or even capable of ever delivering 8K worth of detail) is next to nothing.

3D has always been a cyclical thing. It’s been around for a very long time, and its nature seems to be that it comes and goes. People get excited about it for a while, then it fades away again. It will probably come back into style after Avatar 2 comes out, especially if Cameron delivers on his quest for glasses-free 3D.

Not to mention the bandwidth from 8k streaming has to be insane.

Well eventually get to the point where you can be in the movie and it’ll be like a choose your own adventure thing like those fantasy role play books if you want to open the door turn to page 77. If you want to run away turn to page 73.

That’s not a movie anymore though.

The goal of tech isn’t to change the fundamental nature of what a movie is; it’s about providing the best and most accurate-to-the-source presentation possible. And with a good 4K HDR set-up and transfer, we’re essentially talking about watching a pristine film print in your living room.

Netflix are already developing series that do that choose what happens next thing though.

Oh yeah, if we’re talking future content then sure.

Watching Spielberg work would be a dream come true. Zack Snyder would be the runner-up.

Oh wow. Great call. Watching making of ET or saving private Ryan, you can get a small taste of how awesome Spielberg is with people. He inspires them and just has a gift of getting the best out of them.

I only know snyders name but I’ll take it you’re a fan. That’s cool

Have you watched the Patrick Willems videos about why Micheal Bay is a legitimate auteur?

No, I never watch film criticism videos. And I don't need anyone to tell me that!
